What others say about us

We were thrilled to partner with visitBerlin for the BCD M&E SEROTONIN Event 2024. Their support and sustainable solutions aligned perfectly with our vision, helping us achieve our sustainability goals and earn the Sustainable Berlin Patch. Sustainability is a collective effort that thrives on partnerships like this.

What defines a Sustainable Partner?

All suppliers certified by Sustainable Berlin have been audited against a catalogue of criteria recognised by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). The aim is to foster a responsible events industry that takes environmental, social and economic considerations into account. Sustainable Berlin’s smart management system is used to develop targeted measures and identify areas for improvement.

Event planners benefit from partners that demonstrate their services and measures across four areas:

1. Governance, Risk & Compliance

This area focuses on responsible corporate governance at all levels. It includes, for example, a code of conduct for all staff that takes into account the interests of all stakeholders (e.g. clients, employees, suppliers, shareholders, investors). Compliance with legal and industry-specific regulations is a basic requirement. In addition, companies define their own ethical principles and actively incorporate them into their governance strategy.

2. Responsible Business Conduct

Beyond financial responsibility, companies act in socially and environmentally responsible ways. This includes offering sustainable products and services while also meeting their social responsibilities. Examples include fair wages, transparent cost structures, and forward-looking business models that benefit future generations.

3. Environmental Protection within the Organisation

This area focuses on environmental management and the concrete measures being implemented. It assesses which activities, products and services have an environmental impact and how companies are reducing emissions and waste, as well as managing hazardous materials responsibly. All of these aspects form part of the auditing process.

4. Social & Societal Responsibility

Sustainable action also means acting responsibly towards society. This wide-ranging area includes staff development, effective diversity management, and making a positive contribution to civil society – for example, through donations or Social Days in schools, nurseries, care homes or hospices.
